Thomas, I am 13mos post maze. I also work out regular and always monitor my heart rate during cordio. It seems as if I have a governor on my heart keeping it from getting above 110 w/o some serious effort. I can get it higher, but do not want to push it that hard. I have resumed all my pre afib activities, but less intense. That may also have something to do with my three back surgeries. I have high blood pressure and take one medication once a day--I also dislike taking medication, but it is no big deal. I had a check up last week my bp was 120/80 and rate was 68. I also weigh 225lbs and am 50yrs old. One BP medication sure beats all the afib meds. I have had no extra or skipped beats, that I know of, and continue to improve. Following maze surgery I could not do a single dip in the gym--Now I am doing 4 sets of 8-still not great but a big improvement. I know I will never be my old self but I am as good as I can be considering all I have been through and gladly accept that. Hopefully what ever you are dealing with will soon pass. It is old timers on this board like you that encouraged alot of us to become fellow mazers. Good Luck, God Bless all of us and may we continue NSR>--Jimmy Cull
