Paul, I am 67, but I think everyone should have a recliner of their choice, and I prefer la-z-boy. With they joking aside, I did sleep in my recliner the first night home. I had no problem laying in bed, it was the getting in, and out of it that bothered me.
I think you will be plesantly surprised as to how fast your chest will heal. I was mowing my own yard at 2 weeks post op. Maybe not smart, but I didn't notice any ill effects from the exercise.
