Paul: I guess it would partially depend upon whether or not you or your wife want a recliner in your decor. I have a semi-recliner, which is passable to my wife, which is very comfortable and not overly big. It is made by Pallisar (sp?) and is very similar to the more expensive Ekornes "stressless" chair, which is VERY comfortable.
I spent time in this chair, but also didn't have too much trouble sleeping on my side with a couple of pillows wedged up against my chest to kind of support my sternum. I don't recall having any difficulty sleeping after 2 weeks or so except for the coughing problems I had because of a non-maze related post nasal drip.
John may have had problems because of his enthusiasm for getting his life back. (You might remember his early post-maze post about going to look at a dirt bike a couple of weeks or so post-maze, so he might have been overextending himself). (Just a slight barb, John!) On the other hand, I was walking 3 miles/day at a 10.5/min per mile pace at 12 days, and didn't feel I was overdoing anything.
Perhaps you can ask Roger, who is going home this week, whether he feels a need for a recliner or similar chair.
Good luck!!
