Walt,

I had an ablation by doctors in Dr Marchlinski's group (but not by him personally). At the time I had Afib for 6 years which had gradually turned into Atrial Flutter. After the U.Pa ablation, it went back to Afib again. I was totally disappointed. The procedure didn't do anything for me.

Four months later I went to the Cleveland Clinic for the Maze by Dr McCarthy. After the Maze I was in Atrial Flutter for 8 months (which is unusual - most people are cured completely). After 8 months I returned to CC for a "touch-up" ablation by Dr Schweikert which cured me completely. It will be 3 years this October.

There is no comparison between the ablation skills of Dr Marchlinski's group and the Schweikert group at CC. CC is hugely superior.

I'm very glad that Pete found a good E.P in Dr Callans. Pete has been through Cardiac Hell and no one deserves a break more than he.

If I needed another ablation (which I do not), I would never go back to Dr M. at U.Pa. I would return to the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr Schweikert told me that the trans-septal hole closes within a week normally. There is a very detailed interview that I had with Dr Schweikert on this site. Search for "schweikert".

Good luck,

Henry
