I'd say yes. Sometimes there are very few ways you can be comfortable and times I would sleep in the recliner. We had also bought an adjustable bed a few months previous which was a great help. Laying flat on my back was not comfortable and it was MANY weeks before I could sleep on my side - which still hurts in some ways.
The recliner and adjustable bed both helped a great deal.
