Laura: Find out EXACTLY what type of "ablation" this EP is suggesting. As Glen says, an AV node ablation is absolutely, positively, the LAST choice, AFTER everything else has failed.
A pulmonary vein ablation(PVA) MAY be an option, but what type (focal?,circumferential?,etc?). How many has this EP done for folks with YOUR condition, and how successful have they been?
I would suggest that you get your records sent to Drs. Schwiekert or Natale at the CC to determine what they might suggest. I would rather have someone who has seen many 100s of patients and probably about every combination of arrhythmias pass judgement on what my choices are if my condition is "unusual" as they seem to think. The "unusual" cases are one of the reasons the CC has multiple energy sources at hand during an ablation, so if one doesn't work, they can change their approach. This is a luxury not afforded many (if any) other EPs around the country, according to Sarah's report from the Atrial Fibrillation Summit which was posted here in the fall of '03.
If you have not yet worn an event monitor for a week or more, they may or may not have a true picture of what is happening to you.
Exercise can be a "trigger" for atrial fib, but I don't know about PVCs.
Good luck, and keep us updated on what you learn.
