It is very interesting to wonder how a-fib gets started. I think there is a hereditary component. My grandmother, father and aunt all experienced a-fib. None of my siblings have it, so I wonder. I can think of two things that distinguish me from my siblings and might have contributed to a-fib. One is years and years of excessive caffeine consumption. Another is four decades of devotion to jogging, speed walking and swimming. While I am not very competitive at any of these things I have been an endorphin junky forever. There seems to be a link to a-fib.
