Sarah,
I'm very glad you are back from vacation. This board was comatose while you were away. Nobody posted (including myself)!
I watched the ablation movie also. Thank you, Jeanne, for letting us know about it.
It is a scary procedure - particularly when I think about the two horror stories that were recounted on this board recently - especially the one at Hahnemann Hospital in Phila.
The two ablations that I had were both right-side ablations (sissy ablations!). They did not penetrate the septum. Dr Schweikert told me that if they could not cure my flutter in the right atrium, I would have to return later to CC for a left-atrium procedure. Thank God he was successful in the right atrium. My respect for, and gratitude to, Dr Schweikert is boundless, as I told him in the Thank You letter I wrote to him afterwards. His open, candid, answer-all-questions-including-the-horror-stuff manner was so superior to that of the EPs I met at U.Pa. Their meeting with me was so short I never even got their names. All EPs are NOT created equal!
Catheter ablation is not an easy, drive-through procedure. It is vital to choose an EP who has both experience and good judgement so that the Hahnemann experience does not happen to you.
