mike , i live in florida also and i had the maze done in columbus by dr. cox and dr. brown on nov. 29th of last year. it's been 8 months and a couple days now. they did an excellent job. like you , i was having problems with af but i was not chronic. also i had not had the previous heart surgery. i can only say if you are active as i am then anything is worth being off all those drugs and being in af. i know how you feel. you will make the best decision, i know. since the operation all has not been peaches and cream. i am still in juntional rhythm except when i start to exercise. then at around 85 or 90 pulse my atriums kick in and work. after i stop and get down to 60 or so they stop working and i go back into junctional rhythm. no one knows why. i guess i'm a fluke in the mixture. but i am sure not sorry i did it. you won't be either.
