Leighanne, I haven't heard of Dr. del Nido myself, but that doesn't mean he isn't a good surgeon. Maybe someone on the site will have some information and reply to you.
What ever you do, get all the information you can on any surgeon you plan to use. Ask many questions of the surgeon, and anyone who knows him. Don't be intimidated by the medical community. It is your body, and your life, and you have the obligation to do the best you can.
He evidently hasn't done very many maze procedures, or we should have some feed back. This is just one indication that you might want to do more checking.
I ran a search on this web site, and his name had not been mentioned that it found.
