Steve: Your description/explanation of chronic AF, exercise, and the numerous and varied possible related causes is absolutely the best I have encountered. (It also explains why I changed my major in college in the '60s because biochemistry "weeded" me out of the "predental" program. Thirty-five years later, some of it has come back to me via your explanation. I have printed it out for perusal by my close friend/biking partner, who is a cardiologist who believes the "maze" to be "experimental".
Without the "experiments" of Dr. Cox back in '87 and earlier, and subsequent improvements of the maze procedure, many of us would still be debilitated and severely limited by the drugs and our LAF. What I wouldn't have given to have been rid of this curse years earlier, but at least I can rejoice in the fact that AF AND ALL DRUGS are gone from my life. Now I just have to find the time to become a real exercise fanatic again...like Ed!
Thanks to Dr. Cox and others who have found the "tools" to help us regain our lives. If I am ever fortunate enough to meet him, I am afraid my thanks will be a long and tearful embrace, which would probably be embarassing to him but certainly heartfelt from me!!
