That is good advice from Carl. Go around your EP. He doesn't sound like he wants you to be cured. Go straight to Dr Millar.
I'm 71 years. I had the Maze at 69 years. I still jog around where I live. If you are only 48 yrs then you have a lot of jogging to get done and you won't get it done taking those damn chemicals. You need to meet a nice man who wears a mask and carries a knife - like Dr Millar.
