The URL below is the Atrial Fibrillation Foundation site. It's easy to read, and has the statistical comparisions between Maze and Ablation that John mentioned.

I don't know that any of us Ablation successes, that are enjoying NSR, are sold on Ablations ONLY, if we should have Afib reocourance.

As i've said before, sometimes, like myself, their are multiple "kinds" of problems with rate/rythms and the doctors will give their opinion whether Maze, or Ablation is appropriate for the individual.
