Hi Nancy-
I posted a message a few days ago in response to another message Henry Alken posted concerning the differences between cardiologist and heart surgeons. The essence of my message was that I didn’t get much help from the two cardiologist concerning a cure for my A-fib problem.

But reading your “I’m not bitter about my cardiologist” message jarred my memory and there was in fact another cardiologist that did some testing that the other cardios never attempted. An this cardiologist did recommend that I needed surgery to cure my serious A-fib problem. There is absolutely no excuse for me forgetting about or not giving due credit to this young cardiologist. He never talked about the MAZE procedure, but he did recommend a surgeon. And this surgeon never talked about the MAZE procedure either. He said mitral valve repair would not prevent me from having another A-fib attack. And even though I had never heard about the MAZE procedure or ablation at that time, I was still uneasy with the surgeons I had interviewed.

I kept looking for a surgeon who would answer all of my questions. And I think that was about the time I “hooked up” with Carl Plaskett and was scheduled to interview with a heart surgeon at the Universtiy of Florida Shands hospital. The rest is history.
