Glenn: I suffered from afib for 12 years before I found this board and discovered there was a cure that the doctors weren't telling me about. I had my maze 21 months ago at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston at the age of 61. Dr Duncan was my surgeon and Dr. Massumi the EP. I have had no afib since the surgery and am on NO medications. It has truly given me a new lease on life. I saw Dr. Massumi about a month ago for my checkup. After an echocardiogram, ekg and discussing my progress, he said "you don't have to come see me anymore--everything about your heart looks perfectly normal". When I left his office, I was walking on air! I agree with the others that the CC is probably the preferred choice because of their experience, but THI does an excellent job also. Good luck to you.
