Glenn, it's no secret that the Cleveland Clinic does the most procedures to cure AF, and have a excellent record on both the Maze and PVA's. This doesn't mean that there isn't many other good surgeons that have good records on the maze also. You just have to pick out one of the good ones that you can get information on, that you think you can travel to.

As I told you in my mail that I chose one in my home town of Peoria, and in my opinion he is one of the best.

Dr. J. Michael Duncan of Houston has done a few maze procedures on people who posted on this board.

There is a surgeon in Little Rock, Ark. that I would stay away from. I don't remember the name, but I would just mark Little Rock off the list. My sister-in-law had a ablation done in Little Rock, and it didn't do any good either.

Glen, I don't think you ever said your age. I had my maze at 64. There have been some on the board that was in their 70's when they had the maze.

Just absorb all the information you can about the maze/or ablations, and the doctors that perform them, and then you will have to make up your own mind on what you want, and where you want to go.

Most everyone on the board will be glad to furnish any information they have, that you ask for. There is no agenda of the board, except to provide the best information on the subject of maze/ablations.

Best wishes and prayers.

PS: Carl, I also had to urinate every 5 to 10 minutes at the onset of a AF episode. This would continue for about a hour, then it would ease off. I had already had prostate surgery, so I could completely empty when I did go. People with a little prostate problem might have to go every 2 to 3 minutes. It is a problem when it starts in a inappropriate time, or location.
