I think the best advice has already been given, look at the experience that your surgein has with the specific procedure he or she proposes. I had the minimally invasive maze done by Dr.Cox about 9 months before he had his knee surgeries. I left the hosp in NSR and with one notable exception (a flutter about a year ago) have been in NSR and off meds ever since. The published statistics on the maze success rate are almost entirely based on the old fashioned crack the chest down the middle, open the hood and take a look, approach.
