As some of you know, my son went to CC for the Maze in May. He had been on Amiodarone for some time. When we got to CC he was in flutter so instead of the Maze it was decided to ablate the flutter. (right atrium) 3 weeks after the ablation, flutter returned although it was not the same flutter which was ablated on May 31. (Different rythm, different speed) Mapping at the time showed no additional pathways. He went in and out of flutter over the next week and is now in flutter almost full time. The thinking is that the Amiodarone masked this new pathway and so he's going to see if the flutter can be controlled by drugs and if not, he'll go for another shot at ablation. The half life of Amiodarone is quite long and since his ablation was on May 31, there is still quite a bit of that drug in his system. So he'll just have to wait & see. This is just to give you an update in case there's anyone else out there with this problem. Thanks to all for your best wishes. Bill
