Quinidex (quinidine) is a Type I antiarrhythmic that works on the cellular level by increasing the refractory period of the atria. That just means it blocks the heart tissue from being able to be stimulated for a "certain time", no matter what the conduction. It sounds like you are following the normal progression of a-fib (becoming refractory to your drug regimen). Have you tried other regimens?
