I agree with John! Investigate exactly what this procedure is which your doctor proposes for you! The catheter maze has been pretty much abandoned at this point, as far as I know. The success rate was not good and the complications (and worse) were fairly high. Neither of my EPs would consider it for me 8 months ago
and are still sending patients to the CC from Florida for either the open chest (mine) or minimally invasive maze procedures as of 10 days ago.
Perhaps this will be an option at some time in the future, but if pulmonary ablations have failed (as did mine), I would consider the full maze procedure, hopefully done by someone with some maze experience.
