I was feeling compelled to respond to Carley because I was in those same shoes about 3 years ago...not knowing where to turn. The options from my cardiologist were:

1) ablation - risky w/marginal success rate

2) Pacemaker - w/a lifetime of drugs

Forunately, he was open to a phone call to Dr. McCarthy (CC), and was convinced that it was my best choice. That was in Aug 2000 and I have not one regret....I have been in NSR and off all meds ever since.

I cannot agree more with your observations and would urge Carley to begin the process of regaining her life. From what I have been reading, ablations have come a long way. However, I can only speak to the wonderful results that I had with the MAZE... I would do it again. Carley, don't settle for a doctor whose solution is to 'live with it'...
