Hi Barbara-
Congratulations on your 8-months of being in NSR! I have just passed my 8-month test (two weeks ago) of being in NSR. And like you, I get these unwanted "blips" in heart beat every now and then, mostly when I'm in bed reading or getting ready to "slide off" into sleep.

I had my open-heart surgery done at the Univerity of Florida Shands hospital on 2-21-03 by the young surgeon Dr Charles Klodell. The surgery included repair of a prolapsing mitral valve (I have a registered plastic ring in the repair area), a single bypass (only because the good doctor was in the immediate area of a 50% blockage) and of course the life-saving, anti-Afib MAZE procedure.

During the past several months since the open-heart surgery, I have had a malignant tumor removed (the surgeon got it all the first try!) and then a nasty experience with a propane fire that involved 2nd degree burns (a guardian angel is surely watching over me....)

But this aging dude's "MAZED" ticker just kept "doing its thing" (just like a DuraCell battery!) thru all the trama of these events. I still am very conscious of my life-threatening experiences with A-fib, but the over-powering feeling of having the MAZE procedure keeping my ticker in NSR brings a smile on my face every morning when I wake up...and to thank the good Lord for the young surgeon who made this all possible.

Very glad to hear that your now healthy "main component of life" is the beneficiary of the life-saving MAZE procedure. God bless you, Barbara Deck.
Harry :-)
