Hi it has been while since I last posted on this site 29/5/2003 so I thought I might bring things up to date.
I saw the heart specialist at my local hospital following my stay in the obervation ward he felt I had developed atrial flutter and wished to do an Ablation to sort it out he was quite sure this was the best course of action so I agreed.
While waiting for a date for the op I recievd a letter to attend an clinic at Tooting Hospital with the surgeon who performed the Maze on me I was sent for an ECG when I arrived and sure enough it showed an arrythmia the surgeon was at a loss to explain it he was almost speachless, although his opinion was that I did not have flutter but I was in Sinus but with a lot of ectopics and didn't need an operation he decided to change my medication from Bisoprolol to Sotalol starting at a 40mg dose twice a day he wrote to my GP so that he could prescribe this and to inform him of his conclusion I have seen my GP twice since because there was no change in my heart rate I am now taking 160mg twice a day and I still have a lumpy heart beat!
This an upsetting result for me as this is phisically and mentaly much more upseting than the permanent AF I was in before the Maze.
I dont see the heart specialist at my local hospital till next year but the sergeon at Tooting has written to me to see him again in December maybe he has a new conclusion.
Any Input on this would be appreciated.yours
not a happy bunny
Phil.
