I'm a 67 year old male who had MVR + maze 11/02.
I was in sinus from the operation but was still kept on coumadin for 4 months and lopressor for 8 months. I'm off all drugs now and feel much better being off of them. Your father's doc is probably conservative and is worried about him flipping back into AFIB. I hope you attend his doctor visits. Since you seem informed about the maze and afib, I'm sure you could ask the right questions.
