It has been quite a while since I have posted but I have kept up with how all of you are doing by visiting the site from time to time. You all gave me such excellent advice and friendly support after my father's surgery at the CC in March 2003.
He is 6 months post maze/mitral valve repair. He did not stay in NSR until a cardioversion 5 weeks post surgery so he has remained on coumadin and a medication to slow his heart rate (unfortunately, this one leaves him feeling tired). I think he took him off of this one. Apart from the meds he is doing great and feels better every day.
My question is about the coumadin. I was sure his cardiologist would take him off of it today but instead he prefers to be conservative and leave him on it. I do not have any more details yet, but was wondering if any of you who had these 2 procedures were on coumadin for this long and why? When can he expect to get off of it? He would love to get back to Taekwondo, I know.
Thanks for any input any of you have. I will update later with more details as I get them. I hope you are all well.
Also, has there been any news on Rodger's father?
Thank you again to all of you.
