I am four months post RF-modified maze and mitral valve repair. I just returned from two glorious weeks of hiking and photographing in three national parks in Southeast Utah at elevations of 6,000 and 7,000 feet--AND NO AFIB! I certainly could not have done that before surgery. I couldn't walk ten feet without stopping to get my breath.
Have been off Tambocor and Toprol XL for over a month and looking forward to dropping the Coumadin.
I thank God every day for this marvelous recovery and for leading me to this Board, the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Schweikert and Dr. Gillinov.
To any of you out there that are still suffering from the effects of AFib, keep the faith. There is hope!
