atrial fib after maze

I had the maze done a little over a year ago along with a mitral valve replacement. This was my second heart surgery as I had the valve cleaned about 15 years ago. Anyway, I understood before the surgery that the results of the maze aren't as good on a "re-do" as on a "first timer". I had trouble twice last year when I tried to go off medication. I went into atrial flutter. Now am experiencing some atrial fib. Am currently on Tambocor and dig. Anyone else have a similiar experience?
