Aloha John,

That was one of the best success stories I have ever read on the subject. I have been in AFIB for nearly 3 years. I can't feel it..(it's not tachycardia) but it never stops.. the top part of my heart flutters. The drugs don't seem to work on me, neither do the cardioversions (had 2). My heart will go right back into AFIB 2 to 6 weeks later. The amiodarone is useless, and the coumadin keeps me from leading a normal life.. Must stay off my motocycle which drives me into depression. I'm so tired..Yet I do put in a 9 hour day for the DOD at my computer. I'm not ready to make doilies. I have considered Radio/Catheter Ablation, but my insurance co turned me down because they said it was experimental...(the best doctor is at Stanford.. he developed the procedure) now I found out that The insurance co won't cover "open heart" surgery...I am assuming that the Maze, because it is an open heart surgery, is not covered either. I know what the other alturnatives are and they're not good enough. I really liked your story tho.. if I could afford it, I would opt for the maze which could be the only way to save my life. But my purse says..not yet..maybe not ever. Oh well!!!

Carol
