I'm 44 and began with problems around the same time - 14. Had an RF Ablation in 93 for "Wolffe Parkinson's White Syndrome". They said it was successful and to go home, take an aspirin a day and not call them in the morning.

I felt better for a week. Had my first AF episode in a game of racquetball. Yet, it did seem much better for about 6 months. Within a year or so, it was as bad as before. Over the next 7 years it got to the point where I had little quality of life and wondered how long I would live. With a two year old and a new one on the way, I was deeply distressed to know I would either not be there while they grew up or be nearly a vegetable.

I just got back from my 6 week checkup with Dr. Millar. No problems and NSR all the way. Today I change my email address to NSR@papergame.com !!!

He mentioned he is going to write up something about people in my condition. He said he's had 4 young people now that were deteriorating rapidly because of AF. I was to the point of Congestive Heart Failure.

Interesting about Dr. Barnes calling you after hours. I had a question late one Friday and Dr. Millar called me on a Sunday afternoon. I can't think of another Dr. that ever called me for any reason. I think these Dr's doing the MAZE have a deep concern for their patients.

Best of luck on your surgery. Everyone has said Dr. Barnes is excellent.
