Question--Please tell me it ain't so

I am scheduled at CC to begin test the 24th, in preperation for my maze and mitral valve repair. One of the test will be a heart cath. I just got off the phone w/ Joel Smolen who is scheduled for the 25th. He told me that if you need a stint done vs bypass surgery that they will not perform the maze. Is this true? If it is I cannot believe they would not require a cath before arriving. I will be terribly upset if I am rejected for the surgeries I need because of this. The expense of travel and lodging, only to be denied by a test that could of been done before hand. I am excited about my surgeries, nervous but excited. Please someone let me know if this is the case. If it is I will try to get my cardio to cath me next week, before I waste a trip. I have not been cathed yet..I need some info please help. Thanks
