I would have bolted from the op table if I wasn't tied down also. You have to keep remembering the risks of being in AF for a year vs the risk of the operation weigh heavily for the operation. Plus, you'll get your life back to do what is not possible now.
My operation was in April 2 years ago, and it is a great time of year to recuperate. My only problem came from sneezing and hurting the sternum. I sneeze huge, it's fun when things aren't loose in the sternum but tough(for me- 3 months PO), so let out all the air in your lungs before you sneeze, so you don't pop a gasket. A couple of feather pillows might help also.
