Jim--I plug the laptop into a mini surge protector I have and the surge protector right into any outlet. Then I pull the cord out of the phone by my bed and plug it into the laptop. Of course, it helps if you have a cell phone so people trying to call you don't get frustrated.

Are you going to CC? My surgeon was Pat McCarthy and he was great. At CC, they are pretty strict about cell phones. You definitely cannot use them in the room. However, on the cardiac floor, there is a computer in the guest waiting room for anyone's use. There are several more scattered about the clinic.

I will add you to my prayer list. You'll do great! I am happy to report that I am still in NSR after yesterday's cardioversion. I did have a little blip this morning and had a couple of nurses in there in the blink of an eye with meds to block it!
