When I went to Rochester Mayo for my Maze they cathed me prior to surgery so that they didnt have any surprises and would have done a bi-pass at the same time if it was needed. I think any responsible doctor would make sure all the t's were crossed and the i"s dotted. The good thing about having it done right before surgery, they do tell you if the bi-pass is needed but you are out of it and dont remember anything about it. Also the cath sites in my case were healed by the time I checked them out. For me going right from the cath lab to the O.R. helped cut back on the worry time.
