Thanks, Carl, for reminding us that Jack had a vital role in changing our lives. I often tell myself how thankful I am for Dr. McCarthy's skill, but I probably never would have gone to CC- or it would have been after a lot more suffering with afibs- had it not been for Jack Drum. My wife and I recently spent several weeks hiking in Baja California, and I just got back from a 4-day level 2 avalanche course in Idaho where I had to keep up with 20- and 30-year old aspiring guides (OK, I didn't always keep up!). Pre-maze I would get assaulted with afibs after a day of exertion, so I gave up backcountry skiing, a life-long love of mine, and I would only do short hikes. Now I have my life back, and Jack is certainly a part of the reason. I'm not going to wait until I get to Peoria to say thank you, Jack, although I would also like to thank you in person some day.
