Ann/Patti. As Jack suggests, many of us had AFib after surgery and I actually think it's a lot more common that the stats suggest. Don't panic. Patti's EP and especially Dr. Hammer will give you some good info. It takes about 6 or 7 weeks for the incisions to heal. Then, all of a sudden the heart stays permanently in rhythm or at least it did for me. That first time after surgery is a bummer but just know it's not uncommon. I went on some drugs for awhile and still had flutter. But, again, on schedule, it went away. The hard part is over. It's the waiting that counts now. Best of luck.
