Some earlier mentioned this, and i can't find the post, but i looked on the web, and the info just bowled me over!

The Nation's 1st Conference on Robotic Heart Surgery was held at Christ Medical Center Clinic in Oak Lawn Ill.on November 21st. During this, conferees observed a "live" operation for Mitral Valve repair. This is FDA aproved. It's called the da Vinci system.
The cool thing, was that surgery can be done inside the heart, with only about three holes the diameter of a pencil. The surgeon sees everything in three dimention, and the Robot/computer actually communicates the surgeon's natural, intuitive hand movements, BUT actually filters the tremors of the surgeons hands, and relays the digitally-perfected movements to the two robotic arms.

The success rates I read were awsome! The system is being used for heart grafts, valves, arrhythmia ablation (through the chest instead of the femoral artery.)Kidney, gynocological, urology type surgeries are already being done. Robotic surgery was mentioned to my husband this fall when he was discovered to have kidney cancer. They even mentioned that he could go to CC to get it done there. He chose another new method, of having the mass "frozen" to kill the cells here in Little Rock, AR.

If you search, read about the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York's AF surgery done by "Dr.Roboto". I find that it made real sense to me, and it will soon be done a lot, i'm sure, if the fantastic results are any indication. Check it out!!
