The "billed" cost of my Maze surgery 2 years ago, was a little more than $58K, plus travel/hotel. I do not know what the "negociated" cost was to my carrier, Aetna. My out-of-pocket cost, including travel & hotel was $15 (co-pay for seeing a specialist).
Like Ed, I am sure my carrier is going to save money in the long run, since I now cost them an annual visit to my EP.
