Sarah, my PVI ran up at least $51K in charges including the cost of one night in the hospital. The charges keep trickling in, so I don't know what the final bill will be including the cost of my checkup in March. So far, my insurance company has paid $27K. It is possible the hospital and my insurance company will negotiate further on charges, but that is what has been agreed to so far. Add to this figure, the cost of a post-ablation CT scan at home to check for stenosis two weeks afterwards which runs around $1K.

Considering the potential cost of drugs and hospital visits likely over the remainder of my life had I NOT had the PVI, I think the insurance company comes out way ahead. Even more significant to me is that my quality of life is back to normal and my risk of stroke is significantly reduced by having the PVI - the cost of that is priceless!!

I don't know what Mazes run, but with 3-5 nights in the hospital versus one night, it will be considerably more.

Mike

P.S. How's your back coming along?
