Deniss: Boy are you going to get some responses to this question!! I am another former LAF sufferer, who had failed all of the drugs, a flutter ablation, and had nothing to look forward to but further deterioration because of amiodarone.
Perhaps at some hospitals, they only want to do the maze while doing another open heart procedure, but lots of them have been done for LAF patients, and they have the highest success rate, since there are no other problems. The CC is now considering their ablations to be so successful that they are recommending the PVI procedure in many cases instead of the maze. I would not say that is the case at ANY other hospital.
