Pati, here's my two cents ont he subject of hotels.

I stayed at the Guest House in September. The rooms are pretty basic and drab. The place tends to be on the noisy side. It's okay for one night due to its convenience, but beyond that...

In November I stayed at the Intercontinental since I was going to be there three nights and my wife was with me. The quoted room rate was $155, but with taxes the total was $177.48. Local calls are $1.00 each. I had my car with me and was hit for $12.00 a day parking. I didn't care for the rooms. I found the living room furniture uncomfortable and there was not one light in the entire suite that had more than a 60 watt lightbulb in it! Also, only the minimal number of towels were in the bathroom. This is to be expected at budget motels trying to save on a few cents, but not at an expensive hotel. I like to read and it makes me very unhappy not to have at least one high wattage lamp to read by. Also, plan for a lot of tips at this high service hotel. The food was good, but expensive (of course). Also, they don't have HBO on their cable even though many lower priced hotels do.

The Intercontinental is only 3 blocks away from the Heart Clinic. The hospital shuttle bus will pick you up if you can't walk, the weather is bad, or it's night time (not a good area to be walking after dark). Beware, there are several different shuttle bus routes. We had the misfortune of getting on a shuttle bus that had the longest route and it took 20 minutes to get from the hospital back to the hotel!! We told the bus driver where we wanted to go and he should have told us to wait for the next bus, but he was very rude to all the passengers and not helpful at all. He was the only unfriendly person we ran into at the CC.

Next time I go, I will try the Holiday Inn or some other hotel preferably with shuttle service.
