Beverly, I guess I'm following Henry here again but I had the same procedure that he did where only the lower part of the sternum was opened and the surgery done from that entrance. It was smooth as silk with no problems for me and a fast recovery. However, we are all different and require different approaches sometimes so what worked for me may not work for others. If you can afford it and your insurance will cover it, you might consider some input from CC since they seem to be at the forefront of all kinds of heart related advances. Both in the area of surgical maze success and EP advances, it seems like so much is coming from that institution. Best of luck.
