I was wondering if any of you folks could shed more light on what a PVI is. Dr. McCarthy recently mentioned a 75% success rate. What are the risks? How invasive is it? What is the recovery period? What if it doesn't work...can you still have the Maze? If successful will you be off these awful meds? How is it performed? What's the theory behind it...in other words what does this procedure accomplish and how does it correct a-fib? I am seriously weighing my options. I have been in chronic a-fib since 1997. I take too many meds and worry about the long term effects to my health. I also worry about stroke and cardio-myopathy. Jim Matthews
