I knew about Cooley and DeBakey, naturally, and had written to them. My local cardioligist knew "some work was going on in St. Louis" (no duh, Sherlock), and also gave me the name of Gerard Giuradone in Canada, but it was in the National Enquirer that I first read about Dr. Cox, on the back of a pasta recipe I wanted to try! The article detailed his pioneering work in WPW and especially AV node reentry tachycardia. Unreal.
