On Tuesday I had an EKG at the six month point after the MAZE. To my amazement, there are finally very distinct p-waves and a good rhythm. My doctor says that I have finally made it. Since the mitral valve repair and MAZE in May I've had a-fib, junctional rhythm, one return to the Mayo Clinic, 2 cardioversions, 3 months of amiodarone, 2 emergency hospital visits. I thought p-waves had disappeared forever. Hardly a smooth recovery! However I noticed that things were finally falling into place at the 5 month point and now this latest EKG confirms it. So, I guess I really have made it and this news couldn't have come at a better time. Thus, on this Thanksgiving Day I would like to thank all of you who have posted, for the encouragement of Jack Drum and so many others who led me through this recovery and kept reminding me that I'd eventually make it. Thank you.
