I was diagnosed in 1993 with atrial fibrillation at the age of 33. In and out of the hospital for years with multiple cardioversions and medication uses. Nothing worked, ejection fraction getting worse. Referred to Patrick McCarthy at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and he performed the MAZE on me Dec. 15, 1997 and I have been in sinus rhythm since that moment. He is a wonderful man and fine surgeon, I only spent 5 days in the hospital and have never felt better. I lost 100 pounds since my surgery and have my life back again. My 5 year celebration will be with a heavy heart as I think about the change in my life - since this procedure. My heart is filled with love and hope for all of you who search for the cure - there is one out there - keep looking!
