I would just like to reiterate how thankful I am every day to have a new lease on life. I can grow with my kids now, rather than be in a kind of hazy mental and physical fog.
I waited until the echo showed a thickening in my left atrium( a sure sign of physical heart damage), then gulped and started the maze process. I got swept up with the process, scared as hell, and the next thing I knew, I woke up from the operation in beautiful sinus rhythm. Quality of life restored.
When you look at the risks of being in AF for one year versus the risks of the Maze operation, the maze wins. How many years of AF can one take before the risks catch up with one?
