I follow this board quite closely and I suffer from Lone AF. I doctor at the Mayo Clinic and have gone through all the various test. I went in last year after catching on an event monitor an episode that I knew was not the same as I normally have with my AF. This time I became very weak, short of breath and had a very shallow and rapid heart rate. What was happening was that my heart was conducting at a one-to-one rate of 280 bpm. This happend a couple other times before I went to Mayo for an EP study and attempt to ablate. The study study showed I have what they called a "very slick AV node" that allows my heart when in AF to slide to one-to-one conduction. I have been put on Beta Pace which has stopped the one-to-one conduction problem but now I am being told that due to this problem I may not be concidered for the maze.
Has anyone heard of this condition? Make no mistake it's not a "sick node" it is a "slick node". I have never seen anything on this board talking about this and I am curious if this problem is somewhat common and if so were you or anyone you know allowed to have the maze even though this condition exist?
