Just to chime in - my husband, Jack Carpentier had a maze (with aorta replacement and pacemaker) about one year ago. He's currently in the hospital for a massively infected knee (artifical implant - which we think won't need to be removed) that required two separate operations. His heart rhythm kicked out for about four days, but seems to have stabilized now.

Thought you'd like to know - after the initial period of adjustment, his heart rhythm has been perfect other than that one incident.
