Mike, you're doing your homework, that's for sure. One of the great things I always appreciated about Dr. McCarthy is that he never tried to talk me into the maze surgery and he was always fully supportive of an ablation if it made sense. You certainly have options and they are good ones. My only thought on ablation success rates is to find out what the success rate is 1 or more years after the procedure. I know that the numbers at CC are high initially (for a selected group of participants) but I haven't heard numbers for the longer term. But, based on some things happening to other members on this and other boards, sometimes those numbers fall off after a period of time as AFib reestablishes itself. I'll look forward to following your progress.
