Dr. Dearani of the Mayo Clinic also performed my surgery (01-16-02). You are correct - he and his team are very gifted. I still am amazed at how well I am feeling. I did my 10 mile bike ride tonite and wasn't even tired when I arrived home. I have been trying to bike as much as I can - it feels better than even walking. So sorry to hear that you ended up back at Mayo's - hopefully that will be the last time. I was off of most of my meds right away, except for the Coumadin, which I discontinued after about six weeks. Hang in there - all of a sudden you will have a day where you will wake up and realize that you are not sore anymore, etc. It just happened to me almost overnight. I used to have this "funny" feeling in the area where they broke the breastbone. I could almost feel that metal moving around. I realized one day that all of a sudden it wasn't there anymore and the feeling hasn't returned at all.
Hope your recovery continues to go well.

The Florida bike run sounds like fun - don't quite know what it's all about yet. Hopefully Carl will let me know more about it.
